Dyslexia Therapy for Kids
A Pathway Through Educational Therapy

Rachel Dahl
Dyslexia Therapist
Hi, welcome to Treehouse!
Educational therapy is a form of specialized, individualized instruction designed to help individuals with learning challenges improve their academic skills, cognitive abilities, and overall educational performance. It combines aspects of teaching and therapeutic techniques to address underlying issues that may interfere with learning, such as learning disabilities, attention disorders, emotional difficulties, or executive functioning challenges.
Educational therapy incorporates a very personalized approach where sessions are tailored to the unique needs, strengths, and challenges of the individual. A comprehensive assessment of the student’s academic, cognitive, and emotional needs is observed by specialists trained for identifying the underlying issues and determine a diagnosis. Therapist that work within the field of educational therapy specialize in key areas that focus on the student’s learning deficiency such as executive functioning, attention-related challenges, dyslexia, etc. The objective of the therapist is to meet the student where they are and give them the tools and techniques to overcome these challenges.
My area of specialization has been working as a dyslexia therapist helping kids that have been challenged with dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and ADHD, which in many cases is highly related. Being a dyslexia therapist has allowed me to go beyond just improving performance in academics and provide comprehensive support to help kids develop the tools and confidence they need to achieve academic and personal success. This is achieved by using the highly regarded Orton-Gillingham Approach which is integrated into every session. As a dyslexia therapist, I often work closely with parents, teachers, and other professionals (like psychologists) to create a cohesive support system. I look forward to working you!
